Atheism is, in the broadest sense, the absence of belief in the existence of deities. Atheism is contrasted with theism, which, in its most general form, is the belief that at least one deity exists. One of the most common topics brought up about belief to Atheists is without a higher power or deity, where does their moral compass come from?
At atheists.org, Frank Zindler wrote; Plato showed long ago, in his dialogue Euthyphro, that we cannot depend upon the moral fiats of a deity. Plato asked if the commandments of a god were “good” simply because a god had commanded them or because the god recognized what was good and commanded the action accordingly. If something is good simply because a god has commanded it, anything could be considered good. There would be no way of predicting what in particular the god might desire next, and it would be entirely meaningless to assert that “God is good.”
This song is inspired by the idea that our moral compass is in direct relation to who we are from the beginning. That we are born with a compass that merely needs to be nurtured for us to understand right from wrong. And the cause of human decency is choice over all else. It's as if, we are our own Judge and Jury.
lyrics
V1
Label, Lament
Now Sever ties to sentiment
Solidify in fortitude
Chaos, Order
Hold strong never waiver
No contender in the fued
Honest, driven
Survive the life worth living
Breathe to define what that is
Staggered, beauty
Inside the crumbling city
The view alone can bring to tears
Chorus
Into the void, you will embrace, the mind
(Gripping to the soul you find)
Faith in one's self is needed to face, the tide
(a soul realigned)
V2
Digging, yourself
Into the pit of your hell
Will always be elusive
Age is, fleeting
So to the lies your living
Fain away from abusive
We are, the same
There's no one here to blame
Just choose who you want to be
Moral, compass
Born from deep within us
And nurtured by what we hear and see
Finale Bridge
You've got to have standards
You've got to regulate
Meet your expectations
And design your own fate
Let the roar devicive
Miss you completely
You are your destruction
You are judge and jury
Chorus
Into the void, you will embrace, the mind
(Gripping to the soul you find)
Faith in one's self is needed to face, the tide
(a soul realigned)
